Clear and Transparent Legal Fees

We believe clients should understand the likely cost of their legal matter from the outset. The information on this website is intended to provide clear pricing guidance. Where a range or starting price is shown, the precise fee will depend on the circumstances, complexity and amount of work required. We will confirm the scope of work and the fee applicable to your matter before substantive work begins.

VAT statement

Grey Forge Solicitors is not presently registered for VAT. The VAT treatment of your matter will be confirmed in writing before substantive work begins. Third-party costs and disbursements are charged separately and may include VAT where applicable.

Consultation & instruction

  • Initial consultation fee: £200 — payable when booking your first meeting.
  • If you instruct us afterwards, this amount is automatically deducted from your final fee so you do not pay twice.
  • To open a file and begin work on a matter, a deposit of £500–£750 is required.

Overview

How we charge

The right fee arrangement depends on the complexity of your immigration matter. We discuss the options with you at the outset and confirm them in our client care letter.

01

Fixed fees

Where the scope of work can be defined clearly at the start — so you know the cost before we begin.

02

Hourly rates

Where the amount of work depends on how the matter develops, for example contested proceedings.

03

Staged fees

The matter is broken into stages, each with its own agreed fee, so costs remain clear as you progress.

Disbursements

Court fees, Home Office fees, counsel and experts are third-party costs, separate from our legal fees. They may include VAT where the relevant supplier charges it.
